Knit Diaper Cover
Cast on 32 stitches using the Long Tail Cast-On Method.
The cast-on stitches will count as Row 1.
Row 2: Knit.
Row 3: Knit.
Row 4: K3, k2tog, yo, k22, yo, k2tog, k3 (The yarn overs in this row will be the button hole)
Row 5: Knit.
Row 6: Knit.
Row 7: Bind off 8 sts, knit to end.
Row 8: Bind off 8 sts, knit to end.
Row 9: Slip 1st stitch, knit to end. (The slipped stitches at the beginning of the rows, from this point on, will give the edge a clean, smooth appearance.)
Row 10: Slip 1st stitch, purl to end.
Repeat rows 9 & 10, until the diaper cover measures approximately 10 inches. (Note: this is where you can adjust the length of the diaper cover. If you’d like it to be longer, work more rows.)
End with a purl row.
Bind off stitches knitwise.
Weave in ends.
Using a matching or coordinating yarn, tightly secure a large button to the center front of the diaper cover. Weave in ends.
Fold the two waistband ends over to the center, and slip the button through both button holes. It’s finished!
